“I’m not flexible, so I can’t do yoga” is just not true!

This is a statement we hear quite a bit at Be Well Health Group in Grovedale, Geelong. Our team of experienced Yoga Instructors know that turning yourself into a pretzel doesn’t make you ‘good’ at yoga. One of the biggest misconceptions about taking a yoga class is that you must be flexible, which is the furthest thing from the truth. Just being completely present with your breath, mind and body means you are doing yoga.

Trying something new

Starting something new can be frightening, and finding yourself in a yoga studio for the first time is no exception. There are many reasons why people feel intimidated by yoga classes. And guess what? These fears are completely normal.

Many times our perception of yoga comes from social media pages of beautiful beach scenes with yogi’s contorting their bodies into gnarly shapes. This doesn’t represent the general population by any means. Small gains in flexibility, along with mental benefits such as a greater sense of patience and calm is what to expect…..and who wouldn’t want that??
